Audio Production Theory & Editing
Students hit the ground running learning functions of digital audio workstations and digital audio theory. From there students quickly move into advanced audio editing maneuvers. Students learn the principle of Psychoacoustics, which is the study of how humans perceive sound.
Mixing & Reverse Engineering
With a solid foundation already laid students will begin the art of mixing. They will analyze existing songs and reverse engineer their process. Students will learn about equalization, dynamic range processing, volume balancing, panning, auxiliary tracks, bus groups, and time domain effects. Students will also learn the finishing process after mixing, known as mastering.
Students will now focus completely on developing their hearing. With technology constantly changing, our course will focus on the one thing that stays constant, the ear. Training will range from frequencies, intervals, song keys, equalization to timbre. When combined with the previous experience students will now be able to understand the complicated processes of professional productions.
Students will learn the art of music making, from basic music theory, to chord progressions and melody, to top lining. Students will learn everything needed to start writing and producing music.
Acoustics & Studio Building
Students will develop and work out how to design, fix and connect cables to create an effective working studio. In combination with ear training and math, students will learn how to calculate and create their own mixing rooms.
Sound Design & Foley Production
The subject of synthesis and foley is the focus in this module. Students will learn all major types of synthesis including subtractive, granular, wavetable, and FM. Students will recreate, record and design sounds for film amd video games.
DEMO REEL & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Students will learn what employers look for in a good demo reel, and what their primary focus should be when putting one together. The formats required for web delivery and broadcast delivery will be covered. Students will receive advice on job applications and career paths and the best route to take to achieve their goals and ambitions.
The Digital Audio Production Diploma Program Curriculum also includes 20 hours of Career Development, with Pixel Blue College’s Employment Specialist.
